Run for Watthana

We are so excited to announce that Casey Lynn and Josie Lidberg, our friends and supporters, have arranged a fundraising event to create awareness and help raise money for our GoFundMe campaign. For the month of July, they are inviting people from all over the world to run for Wor. Watthana!

The idea is for people to apply individually and set their fundraising and running goals for the month. Individual goals can be set at 1 mile per day, or it can be for a total of 100 kilometres for the entire month. So far, we’ve had over 46 people sign up from 16 different countries, bringing a total fundraising goal of 10,000 USD. We are completely blown away by the support, and together we will get this house built!

Run for Watthana Boom.jpeg

Boom was so excited about this event that he got an early start and has already run 100 kilometres in seven days! Yes, that is correct, he ran 100 kilometres in just seven days in the blistering Thai heat. Boom is such an amazing role model for our kids, and it is because of your support that he can be here for them. Some of you may already know that Boom came from extreme poverty. He grew up without electricity or running water and first left his home to work when he was just 11 years old to pick soybeans. Boom has worked every menial labor job possible and knows first hand the power of Muay Thai and all the opportunities it has to offer.

If you want to join in on this exciting event, there is still time to sign up. If running is not exactly your forte, you can join in and set a goal for biking or walking, anything to stay active and show support! All money raised will go directly towards our GoFundMe campaign, and don’t forget to share your experiences on social media by using the hashtags #runforwatthana #buildusahome.
